Letters sent to the authorities

The Zodiac mocked investigators in notes that hinted at where he might strike next. His contact with the police became part of the case itself, turning each message into another threat.

The case and the suspect

Authorities officially counted six victims, while the killer claimed 37 dead. Graysmith follows the investigation closely and lays out the possible true identity of the man who was never caught.

Adapted for the screen

The book became the basis for David Fincher's film "Zodiac", with Jake Gyllenhaal playing Graysmith, alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Chloe Sevigny.
